Biography

Mr. Horner has over 20 years of experience as an Investment Banker and Angel Investor. After a long career with Wall Street firms, Mr. Horner currently heads the Screening Panel for the Tucson, AZ-based Desert Angels. In addition to 17 early stage investments with the Desert Angels, Mr. Horner has successfully completed in excess of $6.0 billion in financing and advisory transactions for over 100 middle-market private and public companies. He has worked with several companies to fund and execute successful growth strategies, including Guitar Center and Apollo Education. He is currently a Managing Partner of Arch Capital Partners LLC, and previously worked as a Senior Managing Director in the Corporate Finance Division of EVEREN Securities, Inc. (subsequently, acquired by Wachovia Securities). Mr. Horner directed the investment banking activities in the firm’s Emerging Growth Group (Business Services, Consumer Products, Education and Technology-Internet Industries). From 1986 to 1996, Mr. Horner was a Director in the Corporate Finance Division at Smith Barney where he was Co-Head of the Western Region Emerging Growth Group. Prior to Smith Barney, Mr. Horner was employed by First Interstate Bank of California as a Corporate Banking Officer where he was responsible for marketing and structuring senior credit products.

Mr. Horner’s financial advisory experience includes: sale and divestiture assignments, strategic mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, financial restructurings, takeover defense assignments, and valuation and capital structure studies. Financing transaction experience includes private placements of: common and preferred stock, subordinated and convertible debt, and senior term and revolving credit facilities.

Mr. Horner received his Bachelor of Arts degree with honors in Business Economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara and a Masters of Business Administration degree with honors in finance and marketing from the University of Chicago. He enjoys Golf, Skiing, the Gym, and really hoppy IPAs.
